Public radio's Science Friday is preparing a segment on the research being done deep underground for this week's broadcast.
While the Sanford Lab is most well known for its storied and continuing history of high-energy physics experiments, like Ray Davis’s neutrino experiment of the 1960s and ‘70s, the currently active Large Underground Xenon neutrino experiment (LUX), and the forthcoming CASPAR, MAJORANA DEMONSTRATOR, LZ, and DUNE experiments, the conference also features detailed lecture sessions on experiments in biology, geology, and hydrology. [Black Hills Pioneer]After a former GOP governor dropped the ball by letting much of the mine fill with water Democratic former US Senators Tom Daschle and Tim Johnson brought the need for such a research facility to Congress and worked tirelessly to bring the project to fruition.
South Dakota is considering dumbing down requirements for math teachers because graduates flee the state where the SD Republican Party ridicules educated people and perennially threatens funding for public radio.
