Bjorkman pledges to run low dollar campaign

Retired judge, now Democratic candidate for South Dakota's lone US House seat, Tim Bjorkman says the practice of paying to chair certain committees or being based on how much money one can raise for ones political party has created the swamp in DC.

Bjorkman spoke with an increasingly rotund Todd Epp, himself a former lawyer.
He says there are A, B, and C tiers of committees, with A committees commanding the most to be raised. Bjorkman said the "dues" can run from over $200,000 for a B-level committee to $25 million to be Speaker of the House. Bjorkman says he will likely need to raise $750,000 to $1 million to be competitive in his at-large House race. He says he will also have to do it without raising money from political action committees.

Bjorkman will be in Huron today campaigning with other Democratic candidates.
