Republican counties are ground zero for Thursday's burn environment

Grid failures, hundred mile an hour wind gusts, school closures and wildfires will plague red counties again Thursday and Friday.

Large-scale, fast-moving grass fires driven by winds of 55–65+ mph are clearing dry fuels in central Kansas and spreading toward the Wichita area.

I-70 is closed in much of Kansas due to blowing dust.
