Governor Steve Bullock today issued the following statement on the Republican-led push in the United States House and Senate to pass federal tax reform legislation.
“Republicans in Congress are increasing the national debt to give huge tax breaks to corporations and the very wealthy, leaving the rest of us with table scraps. This isn’t tax reform, it’s a tax scam that hurts workers and families,” said Bullock. “Montanans – and our kids and grandkids – deserve better.”
Since taking office, Governor Bullock has cut the business equipment tax for every small business in Montana and eliminated it for two-thirds, put more money in the pockets of workers and families by successfully passing the state’s first-ever Earned Income Tax Credit, and put forward proposals to make sure the wealthiest Montanans pay their fair share of taxes.
