SDGFP wants to kill bald eagles to keep them from being threatened...or something

Bald eagles lost federal endangered and threatened species protection in 2007. Now South Dakota's GOP-owned wildlife 'management' bureau wants to end the state's threatened status for America's national symbol. Golden and bald eagles still enjoy federal raptor protection but the state wants to be able kill the birds for research.

'Take' is code for killing when shelter belts are being cleared or natural resources are being extracted and some species is in the way.

Public comment is being sought by SD Game, Fish and Plunder until August when the state commission meets.
