Lakota language immersion, cannabis converge in Eagle Butte

Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Ventures is hosting an informational meeting on June 8, 2015 at 1:30pm at the OLC Eagle Butte Campus. The meeting is to share information related to the implementation of a Lakota Language Immersion Childcare Center on our reservation. Tribal Ventures is seeking input in establishing this center as well as identifying a person or group to take the reins and make the people’s dream a reality. If you are interested in being a part of the development of a center on Cheyenne River, please attend this meeting.
And:
Mnì, Grassroots for Water Justice, has invited Alex White Plume, Oglala Lakota hemp revolutionary, to speak of the many beneficial uses and properties of the cannabis plant, most particularly industrial hemp and medical marijuana, and the legalization of its growth and industry under tribal law. Mni will host and feed at a meeting on June 19, 2015 from 5-10: 00 p.m MDT, at the Cheyenne River Motel Conference Room, in Eagle Butte, SD.
Read it all at the redesigned West River Eagle.

Former US Attorney for the District of North Dakota, Timothy Purdon is representing White Plume who has been trying to grow cannabis on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota for at least twenty years.

75 percent of homes on the Oglala Lakota Nation may be contaminated with mold.

The Santee Sioux Tribe is approaching the cannabis on-ramp after after voting to take another step. The economic development potential is nearly limitless for the small tribal nation already operating a casino on ground they own just outside the eastern South Dakota community of Flandreau.
