Hunhoff hopeful as Medicaid expansion talks continue

An optimistic Senator Bernie Hunhoff of Yankton says discussions are continuing and that Medicaid expansion is still alive in Pierre.
The numbers have been revised a bit to now say that about twenty one thousand people would be added to coverage under expansion. Offered as part of the Affordable Care Act, most of the expansion costs would be covered by federal dollars. Supporters say it could mean hundreds of millions of dollars for the state. [WNAX]
From KDLT:
Federal health officials say 21,393 South Dakota residents selected health insurance plans during the second enrollment period under a provision of the Affordable Care Act. The federal report shows that 86 percent of those who selected plans in South Dakota qualified for a tax credit, and the credits averaged $228 per month. The report says 47 percent of South Dakotans paid $100 or less per month after tax credits.
