Big Sioux River a toxic shit hole

New research from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology on the Big Sioux River found multiple strains of E. coli that pose a risk to human health.
The study was funded by East Dakota Water Development District and the city of Sioux Falls and was conducted as part of the doctoral thesis work of Dr. Kelsey Murray. Murray’s team analyzed samples from Skunk Creek to look for the presence of genes like Shiga toxin, which turn E. coli into something potentially dangerous.
