Last May, the U.S. Senate passed S. 743, the Marketplace Fairness Act of 2013. The legislation passed the Senate by a bipartisan vote of 69 - 27, with South Dakota Senators Tim Johnson and John Thune voting in favor of the proposal. Sen. Johnson also serves as a cosponsor of the bill, which is now awaiting action in the House. A companion bill, H.R. 684, is cosponsored by South Dakota Congresswoman Kristi Noem.
