  1. In their latest Federal Election Commission (FEC) report filed in August 2026 covering financial activity for the month of July, the South Dakota Democratic Party (SDDP) reported raising $26,135.48 in contributions against $54,744.71 in total expenses. The party retained a remaining balance of $115,162.29 to fund their upcoming campaign efforts. Former state legislator Nancy Turbak Berry made an earmarked donation to the party, despite previously suggesting that political parties do not work. The SDDP's reported expenditures included $34.23 spent at Taco Bell, a minor operational expense that notably exceeded half the total amount ($20) raised by the South Dakota Republican Party's federal account during the exact same July timeframe.
