Feds grinding away at Bandidos MC as Sturgis revs up

Trump worshipping outlaw motorcyle gangs or OMGs traffic the bulk of fentanyl and meth in the US including in South Dakota and Montana where a faction within Bandidos MC called the Ghost Dancers operates on reservations. The Bandidos, Hells Angels, Mongols, Outlaws, and Sons of Silence pose a serious national domestic threat according to the US Department of Justice.

DoJ believes nearly a hundred members of Bandidos MC operate in New Mexico and sent another felon to prison in June for possession of firearms after a deadly 2023 shooting in Red River. On Wednesday a Federal Bureau of Investigation violent task force raided a northwest Albuquerque property where firearms were located and arrested at least one Bandido member.

The Bandidos have a fortified compound in Rapid City and the Hells Angels own many properties in the Black Hills area including the Cottonwood in Spearditch. In one of his last efforts before he left as US Attorney for the District of South Dakota Ron Parsons announced the indictment of 37 people including Bandido-linked Kelly Barker who has been peddling cannabis and other banned substances in the Black Hills since I moved to Deadwood in the late 70s. In 2022, US District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken sentenced four people in connection with that large-scale meth trafficking network bust called “Operation Say Uncle.”

Former South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation agent Pat West is now Meade County Sheriff as Sturgis braces for another round of gangbanging.

  1. "The new dataset shows that US citizens comprised 80 percent of individuals caught with fentanyl during border crossings at ports of entry from 2019 to 2024." CATO
