Food Not Bombs will serve those left behind in Sioux Falls

Michael Iverson watched volunteers with the Rapid City chapter of Food Not Bombs harvest food from local grocery stores and co-ops then prepare meals for those abandoned by the South Dakota Republican Party.
The USDA estimates that Americans wasted 133 billion pounds and $161 billion worth of food in 2010. Now, a Sioux Falls man is bringing a global movement here to reduce food waste and help those in need, all at the same time.

From the days of setting up on card tables with a stock pot filled with steaming soups every Sunday on the banks of Rapid Creek Deirdre Monahan, Pat Zent and their intrepid group of volunteers, intent on providing an alternative for people who would otherwise be subjected to persecution at the hands of the Calvinists that operate the Cornerstone Mission, shared goodies with as many as seventy people each time.
