Mitchell Republic: South Dakota homeless woefully undercounted

Video lootery, lousy wages, payday loan sharks, ecological devastation, STIs, racism, suicides, teen binge drinking, despair: these are the Daugaard years.
The Point in Time Homeless Count was conducted by the South Dakota Housing for the Homeless Consortium in collaboration with other agencies. According to survey officials, the statewide count is just a snapshot of homelessness in South Dakota. Only 37 of South Dakota's 66 counties reported to Housing for the Homeless, due at least in part to the vast land area in some of the more rural counties. And there aren't enough volunteers to cover those miles. Translation: There are likely more homeless than reported—hundreds more, maybe.[excerpt, editorial, Mitchell Daily Republic]
So much for the sanctity of human life.

In a surprise to no one South Dakota hates women's rights the most and where women seeking certain medical procedures face higher hurtles than in any other state.
