Despite brutal winters, increases in inbound white retirees, cost of living and the flight of young people Spearfish has been ranked #8 in Livability's Top 100 Best Small Towns. Yankton came in at #92. Spearfish is also in the running with Rapid City for Outside Magazine's contest of Best Towns 2015.
