  1. Obseity is whole lot more complicated than fat grams or calorie counts.

The people who push impossible-to-maintain diets have one goal: Keep people hungry so they'll keep overeating and stay fat so they can fall for one more stupid (and expensive) impossible-to-maintain diet.

Funny how all these idiotic diets cost people money. You'd think if you ate less, you'd save money.

I'll bet the folks in Wisconsin and Vermont love the "Cheese kills!" mantra. And what about those bratwurst thingies, all that fat and salt and nitrites?

People do occasionally die straightaway from eating bacteria-laded bean sprouts, tomatoes, lettuce, etc.

    Cheeseburgers forever!

  2. Brutal winters in the North and brutal summers in the South are culprits, too, Stan.

Migration should be celebrated, not outlawed.

  3. Yes, when I lived in Miami Beach and the rainy season began (usually in May or June), I'd sometimes get the most god-awful cases of the flu. Other expatriates from the frozen tundra likewise fell to voracious viri awaiting their pulmonary lobes.

Cheeseburgers did not work during the summers in in Miami or Kona, but salads and fruits went down fine. Fat and heat don't mix too well.

Moderation, variation, migration, immigration, emigration all of it, why not? I loved the Cubans down there; they did the American thing better than most Americans did.

National boundaries, religious wars, virtual cosmic tons of human horseradish -- none of it shows up from 50,000 miles out in space.

May God have mercy on the space cadets in any wayward UFO that actually lands, for the devil will have none. I will, however, offer them cheeseburgers in winter.
