"These developments in Libya are another outrageous act of aggression by NATO forces and, in particular, the United States," Zhirinovksy's statement, which appeared in Russian, is quoted by Forbes as saying. He went on to call the strikes part of a "colonial policy" with the goal to control Libyan oil. Bolivian President Evo Morales echoed those sentiments. "How is it possible that a Nobel Peace Prize winner leads a gang to attack and invade? This is not a defense of human rights or self-determination," Morales, who is among of number of left-leaning Latin American leaders who have denounced the Libya attacks, is quoted by Digital Journal as saying. "Obama gives speeches trashing his own country and for that gets a prize, which is now worth as much as whatever prizes they are putting in Cracker Jacks these days," Rush Limbaugh told Newsweek. "The Nobel gang just suicide-bombed themselves."Far more immediacy to commit US firepower in Libya than Iraq, innit? Seems to me that had the first Bush marched on Baghdad in '91 with UN support far less bloodshed would have resulted. Standing up to bullies is liberally compassionate, too.
On the Media interview with James O'Keefe. Listen as he gets shitty with Bob Garfield:
The true cause of the Gulf War in 1990-1991 started actually in the 1940's The US, after WW2 settled in the Middle east, and American Oil companies bought the rights to the area for drilling, they placed puppet governments in charge, one such country was Iran, were they placed the Shai of Iran. in the late 1970's groups of Iranian students began to question the government and reasons why the US owned the Oil fields, they wanted to Nationalize the Oil, so the overthrew the Shai. the US indirectly retaliated by Arming Iraq and instigating a war between Iraq and Iran. Iran won the war, and Iraq was broke. the US didn't send enough aid for Iraq, so Iraq decided to annex Kuwait, claiming that it was a lost providence of Iraq (Kuwait has more Oil than any other Arab nation, they are so rich that only 1% of the nation actually works), the US with the support of the United Nation asked Iraq to leave Kuwait, when they refused, a coalition of multinational troops lead by the US invaded Iraq, and forced them out of Kuwait, meanwhile, the Iraqis attacked a minority group that lived in their country, the Kurds, and used Sarine gas on them. the United Nations established a no fly zone south of the area that the Kurds lived in (the Northern part of Iraq). and also they placed economic sanctions on Iraq. after that, there were accusations of violations of the no fly zone on a number of occasions, and also in some cases UN inspectors were prohibited from inspecting some areas (such as royal palaces) When George W. Bush came in office, he asked to send troops to Iraq for violation of the no fly zone, but was denied by congress. he then asked to send troops because of claims that UN inspectors were not being allowed to inspect all areas, and was denied again. After 9/11 he told the American people that Iraq had developed Nuclear weapons and planned on using them in the near future (called, weapons of mass destruction for political purposes)and he also claimed that Iraq had a part in the 9/11 attacks. congress approved the use of forces to find and secure the weapons of mass destruction, but then the mission changed to the overthrow of the Iraqi government, then it changed to keeping Al Qieda out of Iraq, then changed again to securing the country for elections, and finally it changed to "helping the Iraqi people get "Freedom and Democracy"
